Posada Experience
In order to establish a comfortable and safe lodging place for volunteer groups, Esperanza International built the Posada. The Posada property resides in the community of La Gloria, which is located thirty miles South of Tijuana. This gated facility is equipped to accommodate up to sixty four volunteers in eight dorm style bedrooms. It includes a spacious large kitchen, four bathrooms with hot water showers, meeting rooms, and two communal lounge spaces. Our volunteers use these lounge spaces to unwind after the day by having group reflection, playing games, eating dinner, and throwing parties. The Posada grounds include a large courtyard with a water fountain, a community garden with native plants of Baja California, a basketball court, an area to play soccer, and a small internet café.
Esperanza has also built a community center on the Posada site that provides a variety of services to the local community, which include supporting environmental programs through its gray water processing system for irrigation, composting and recycling. All space is kept clean by our groundskeeper; however, we do ask groups to pick up after themselves during their stay. The Posada is used by other local groups, foreigners, businesses, and schools for meetings, retreats, and other uses. It is a friendly and comfortable space for our volunteers to enjoy after a busy day.
